About
Dr Andrew Jayasuria is a General Practitioner in the final year of the RNZCGP General Practice Education Programme.
He provides comprehensive, patient-centred general practice care and works across a range of clinical settings. Andrew is known for his active listening, calm and efficient consultation style, clear communication, as well as a practical approach to diagnosis and management.
He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Auckland and has since gained broad experience across hospital and community roles, including general medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, orthopaedics, and prison health. This background has given him a strong foundation in managing both acute presentations and complex, ongoing conditions.
Andrew has a growing interest in procedural general practice such as Skin and Minor Surgery and values hands-on clinical work that requires precision and technical skill.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing the drums, piano and maintains an active lifestyle through combat sports, football, tennis, and swimming, having performed at competitive levels in both sport and music. These skills reflect his coordination, focus, and consistency in high-performance environments which he incorporates in his clinical care on the daily.
